Dear Folks –
Not much to write about tonight but here goes nothin’. Roge is on duty here in Bn. Hdqs. tonight so I thought I’d keep him company & at the same time knock out a few letters. It’s a good spot to write – much better than my usual spot – my bunk.
We ran the obstacle course tonight, Roge & myself, to keep in shape. This time I took my camera along & shot some pictures of us going over various obstacles. Hope they turn out cuz they should be good.
Last night was the Officers Club dance. Betty, the girl I met last week, came again last night & naturally I monopolized most of her time. In fact I must have done pretty well because I managed to grab off an invitation to dinner tomorrow night at her home. She claims I’ll have to cut the lawn tho before I get the meal. I’ll have to think of some way to get around that. Maybe I’ll tell her it’s beneath the dignity of an officer of the U.S.A.
Earle & I went in town tonight for dinner because the menu here in camp didn’t look too inviting. We bowled a few lines too & then came back to the fold. Scores were 143, 143, 123, 144, nothing to brag about but at least consistent. Earle averaged about 110 – he’s learning the game.
The weather here is still the same – lots of sun, no rain, rather windy, cool nights & comfortable days – it’s ideal. In fact – we have “June in Mpls” weather here consistently. I guess they have a rainy season here in the winter but I don’t imagine I’ll see that.
Well – I guess when you have to start talkin’ about the weather your hurtin’ for conversation – so I guess I’d better close.
Good night & Love,
Dorance
